Examples of recent work

  

  • Chair of Trustees of a local youth group for LGBTQ+ young people (2017 to date)
  • Been commissioned by two local charities to manage a HeadStart-funded project working in partnership with a secondary school to develop a toolkit of resources to support LGBT young people and their families (September 2015 to February 2016)
  • Co-edited a website with free teaching resources and advice on providing support for children who speak English as an additional language for a national organisation (January 2014 to June 2015, and then April 2016 to July 2019)
  • Worked with another consultant to carry out an independent evaluation of a network of equality and diversity organisations in a local authority (2014)
  • Designed and edited the newsletter of a national equality organisation, circulated every month (March 2012 to date)
  • Worked with a local voluntary sector organisation to develop a one-day course on Inclusive Services for Trans People that is accredited by the Open College Network West Midalnds (OCNWM) (2012)
  • Worked with two local voluntary sector organisations to develop an LGBT equality training package that is accredited the Open College Network West Midlands (OCNWM) (2011)
  • Developed and delivered one and a half days training on LGBT equality for professionals working with parents, looking at meeting the needs of parents of LGB or T young people, and also of LGBT parents (2011)
  • Contributed sessions on provision for children and young people who speak English an an Additional Language (EAL) to student teachers on the PGCE course of a local university (2010 and 2011) 
  • Developed an on-line equalities training package for a national organisation to be used for staff induction (2010)
  • Developed a self-assessment toolkit,  in consultation with young people and youth workers, for a local LGBT youth group to measure their impact so as to provide evidence for their funding provider (2010)
  • Delivered staff training and support for a Children’s Centre to develop a new Equalities Policy to ensure that they are meeting the Public Sector Equality Duty (2010)
  • Provided a two-hour training session for all staff and follow up sessions with key departments in a secondary school on provision for EAL learners (2010)
  • Carried out research for a local consultancy partnership on a diverse range of projects, including domestic abuse, maternity services, play provision, the Future Jobs Fund and Talent Match (2009 to date)
